It’s a great deal so sign up soon!
We leave for Italy in 1 week- we arrive several days early to scout our favorite locations and find some new ones… as well as get a little extra food and wine before the group arrives!
Ciao!
We spent the past weekend shooting some great images with our Desert Spring in the Canyons of the East Valley workshop. We light painted, we shot sunrises and sunset, and all of our participants got some amazing images! Although a little tired by the end, I think we all had a lot of fun.
Here are some images from the weekend. The one at night was at the end of our light painting excursion- I “light painted” our participants over a long exposure
.
We have scheduled our summer workshops and they will be a lot of fun! Some of these workshops were requested by previous attendees, so we hope to hear from you!

We always scout an area carefully and choose the best locations for photos before we conduct workshops. Although we have scouted the east valley several times in the past, we are scouting again this week to confirm our favorite spots before our March 25-27 Desert Spring in the Canyons of the East Valley- by the way, we still have 1 spot left! Here’s a snapshot of Joel amidst the cactus from last year. I will post some of the area when we return!
Thinking about our May Villages of Tuscany tour, I was inspired to cook Tuscan last night… For our “Primi Piati” I made a traditional country Zuppa di Cavolo con Fagioli (Cabbage Soup with Beans), with crusty garlic bread in the bottom of the bowl. For our “Secondi Piatti” I made Zucchini Farcito (Stuffed Zucchini), and for “Dolci” (desert), Caffe in Forchetta (Coffee on a Fork- a coffee flavored custard). Mmmm, Buon Appetito!
We drank a nice California wine that went very well with the soup and the zucchini…
It’s always fun to taste a bit of culture before you go somewhere!
FYI- We still have room in our March 19th Digital Photo Basics Workshop in Scottsdale!
Ciao!

Ciao! Hope to see you there…
Last week, the weather was crazy for us here in Flagstaff! Several tornadoes hit west and north of Flagstaff. In the town of Belmont, there was quite a bit of damage, but miraculously, no one was hurt. Here’s what it looked like at our studio the morning the tornadoes hit… the rare fog was beautiful, little did we know what was happening elsewhere.
Thankfully, it stopped raining and warmed up a little for our workshop on the weekend! Here’s one of our workshop participants photographing the backlit grass in a meadow at the base of the San Francisco Peaks. Although a busy weekend- sunrise, sunset, light painting at night, another sunrise- we all had fun!
We spent the weekend scouting areas around Flagstaff where the leaves are changing for our Fall Color in Northern Arizona workshop next weekend. The change is just starting so most of the areas we like are currently a combination of yellows and greens, but the aspen trunks are just as photogenic as the leaves! We also found some beautiful bracken fern. Deciduous trees (those that lose all their leaves every year) respond to the amount of sunlight in a day, which determines when the leaves change color. In contrast, plants like bracken fern change color primarily in response to temperature.
During the workshop next weekend we’ll have great photo opportunities and learn a little about the natural processes that are part of my favorite season- autumn!
We’re now booking our 2011 Villages of Tuscany workshop! It will be a unique cultural and visual journey. Visit some previous posts to get an idea of what we do. The dates are 14-21 May, 2011*. As always, we include 7 nights accommodation, in-country transportation, many wonderful meals, wine tasting, and much more! We’re really excited for another great trip. Click here to see a full description.
*We can also arrange a similar tour for private groups to Tuscany or Provence! Contact us for more information…
We still have room in two upcoming workshops, September 25th- Digital Photo Basics and October 8-10th- Fall Color in Northern Arizona … time is running out!
Ciao for now.
We had a fun weekend with our workshop participants. We shot a couple of sunrises, sunset and played with light in the night! Here are a couple snapshots I took during the workshop- an example of how everyone sees something different to photograph, and one of our sunrise locations.

We’ve also added a couple new workshops at the request of our participants.
July 16-17, 2010- Digital Photo Basics II, the Next Step
August 14-15, 2010- Lightroom- Where are Those Photos? Managing your Digital Life
October 8-10, 2010- Fall Color in Northern Arizona
Please let us know if you have any questions. Also, we still have room in our Villages of Provence workshop- if you refer someone who takes it you get a large framed photograph FREE!
Ciao for now!
