I scrambled up several levels of slick rock shelves in a Sedona side canyon and was ready to take a rest when I saw this beautiful lichen on the red rock. I made use of direct light, some prickly pear cacti and the shadow of a tree to provide a strong graphical element in creating this somewhat abstract image.
