This is part of a street shooting project I did in New York City. I was at a neighborhood playground and was struck by the wall with brush strokes covering up graffiti. It looked like a canvas to me. I used it as negative space for an abstract approach to an everyday object like a basketball hoop. There was a game going on and I waited quite a while for a shot that got the ball in the right place for visual balance.
