I went to this dry lake bed at sunset knowing the long shadows would accentuate the textures in the scene. Although the stick lying there added some interest it needed something more to break up the endless landscape. Enter Astro, my dog. She was anxious to get the stick in the foreground but I had her sit and wait so as not to disturb the cracked mud. When she turned her head I snapped the shutter.
