It was sunset and nearby trees cast their shadows on the side of an old villa in Chianti. The trees were probably as old as the villa and I saw this as kind of a melding of the manmade structure and its environment where the two have coexisted for hundreds of years. The shadows and shutters were a testament to this. Although there was brilliant color on the building from the sunset I thought it would be a distraction from the real story and chose black and white.
