In various ways I’ve captured the spectacular red poppies that abound in parts of Europe. They have a special luminescence when backlit during sweet light. I wanted to express this in a new way so I examined several poppies individually for just the right one. Then I took an extreme close-up using the translucent foreground petals as a window through which to see and accentuate the warm reddish hues of the other petals.
