It was the best Spring bloom in years in the Sonoran Desert. I was about to quit shooting for the day as the best light was disappearing. While negotiating a washboard dirt road on the Mexican border I noticed a small patch of poppies and owl clover in a wash. I quickly got out of my truck and went up the wash to this field of wildflowers. I used a low angle to capture the interplay of striated light and flowers in this unusual desert scene.
