Instant Impressionism!

Topaz’s New Impression Plug-in

I just had a chance to try out Impression, a plug-in for Photoshop and Lightroom that also operates as a stand-alone application. Being a lover of impressionist art already, I really had a lot of fun using this. I’ve tried other filters and plug-ins before that mimic painting and other media but this is the best I’ve seen to date.

Not only can you choose a medium like colored pencil, watercolor or oil but you can also choose styles like Impasto or Impressionism or even specific artists like Monet, Cezanne, Renoir and more. You can start from a specific medium, style or artist with the click of the mouse. If you want you can modify those or create your own with a myriad of options for brushes, colors, lighting, and even surfaces from asphalt and marble to traditional canvases. Topaz claims 7 billion variations are possible.

If you like Impression (or any other Topaz plug-in for that matter) you can receive a 15 percent discount by clicking here and use the code JWOLFSON

Here are some examples where I started with a basic shot of trees in my yard and simply clicked on the presets without any other alterations:

Here a chose a Van Gogh preset. I have to admit that a lot of the impressionist artists' presets looks similar but still impressive. The idea of course, is to make it your own even if you start with a known artist style.
