The Superstition Mountains

We just got back from a camping and shooting excursion to the Superstition Mountains, a beautiful wilderness area east of Phoenix metro. Apparently panning for gold is still a popular recreational activity here as we met several people on their way to do just that! They also told us that it rarely ever pays for itself, but I guess that’s what hobbies are- something we do for fun!
There is ample water in the area, especially considering its location in the middle of the desert! According to our map, natural springs dot the landscape. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many large saguaros. Here’s a photograph I took along the road. We plan to go back in the spring when this hillside will be filled with flowers!

Ciao!
